Shed Shout Out! - October 2026

A monthly update will always struggle to be keep pace in a time of change but, suffice to say, our move to new premises has stalled until February.  At present, our plan is to keep running in Station Road for the time being although it will not quite be ‘business as usual’.  We are easing-back on the packing now to leave sufficient tools for some basic making and mending although our social area will (of course) remain fully-equipped and fully-functional at all times!

We’re probably happiest when our work is to help local community groups so when Treehouse Pre-school asked if we could refurbish their circular ‘Tree-Bench’ we didn’t hesitate.

Peter took up the challenge and managed to fix and install it just in time for the new Term – great job Peter!

Moving house (or Shed) provides an ideal opportunity for a good clear-out and after 11years on the same site, we had accumulated rather a lot of ‘treasure’ that was ripe for recycling.  We then spotted that our local Scouts were collecting scrap metal to raise funds for their international adventures in 2027 including the World Scout Jamboree in Poland.  Scouts Margarita and Amy popped-in to help with the sorting and, together, we were able to add over £800 to the fund, quite a surprise! We wish them a very successful trip.

We received the following message from them:

"On behalf of the Scouts, I would like to express our sincere thanks for your generous support in helping us raise funds towards our Jamboree and Grand Tour trip next year.

We are extremely grateful for your kind donation of scrap metal, which has provided us with a valuable funds for this exciting adventure. Your generosity and willingness to support our Scouts means a great deal to us.

The Grand Tour and The Jamboree in Poland will be fantastic experiences for the Scouts, giving them the opportunity to develop independence, teamwork, confidence and create memories that they will treasure for years to come. Your contribution is helping to make this possible. Amy and I enjoyed helping out sorting scrap at your site in the summer but the most we have enjoyed your company and learning from you.

Thank you once again for your generosity, kindness and support. We truly appreciate everything you have done to help our Scouts reach their fundraising goal."
