Shed Shout Out! - November 2025Remembrance Day falls on a Tuesday this year so we will, of course, be downing tools at 11:00 and joining the Nation in observing two minutes silence. The cruelty and futility of war was brought home to us back in May when Fellow Shedder, Roger Churchill, embarked on an epic cycle ride to commemorate the deadly 'Long March' taken by POW evacuees in the closing months of WW2. Among the survivors was Roger's late father, Squadron Leader Richard ‘Dick’ Churchill, a Stallag Luft III inmate, serial escapee and a key figure in what was to become immortalised in the film The Great Escape. Roger’s cycle route started from Stallag Luft III in Poland on the 5th May and finished three days later in Berlin. We start our winter season of talks this month and Roger has kindly agreed to set the ball rolling with a presentation about his father and about plans for a lasting memorial. The talk is on 6th November at 11:00 and all Shedders and guests are welcome |

Like many, we’ve been trying to hold on to Summer for just a bit longer by kidding ourselves that we don’t need the heating on just yet - but we’ve relented now of course! Once again, we have signed -up as a Warm Welcome Space so if you are passing and fancy a brew, a warm-up and a chat then just pop-in.
