Shed Shout Out! - January 2026

Shedders need to be quite hardy to use our large workshop at this time of the year so keeping busy where the heating works is a popular option!

In the run-up to Christmas or (more accurately) our stall at our Town Fair, our heated craft area fills up with ‘Elves’ (aka Tony) keeping warm by making goodies to sell. Thanks Tony and thanks to everyone who supported us this year.

We enjoyed far too many mince pies, biscuits, (non-alcholic) mulled wine and coffee at our last Shed of 2025 on the 23rd December. Santa's helpers  have to have a break sometime! But had time to capture another photo for the 'Shed Album'.

Our 'Winter Talks' provide another way to keep in the warm. In December, Dan Clemens of Claydon Clocks gave us a fascinating insight into why clocks go wrong and how he goes about repairing them. Dan’s knowledge, expertise and infectious enthusiasm shone through - a real privilege
to listen to a true master of his craft.

On Thursday January 8th we look forward to our next 'Shed Talk' welcoming Peter Keegan who will be talking to us about his life as a professional artist.

Dick, however, is braving the cold to fulfil a request from a local lady who provides volunteer, professional pastoral support to hospices and hospitals. She offers small, hand-friendly wooden crosses for patients to hold - such a simple concept but one that many have found to be deeply comforting. Interest and demand is growing which means Dick looks set to be busy well into the New Year!

Happy New Year from us all at Winslow Men’s Shed.

Warm Space logo Like many, we’ve been trying to hold on to Summer for just a bit longer by kidding ourselves that we don’t need the heating on just yet - but we’ve relented now of course!  Once again, we have signed -up as a Warm Welcome Space so if you are passing and fancy a brew, a warm-up and a chat then just pop-in.  Christmas is just around the corner too so don’t forget to say Hello when we’ll be at the Town Christmas Fair from 5:00 on the 27th
