Shed Shout Out! - December 2025

Making and mending continues to be a mainstay of what we do in the Shed but a recent request did have us stumped. Among more conventional items, Steeple Claydon School asked if we could make them a Fairy Hotel. A what? After a lot of head scratching, Mick and Derek came up with a style and theme that seemed to fit the bill and, once they got started, ideas just kept on coming.

We are very grateful to Justine Dudley and her team at the school for enabling us to deliver the items in person and to meet some of the children. Seeing them engage with what has been such a fun project to make really was the icing on the cake for us.

We marked the season of Remembrance this year with Roger Churchill launching our winter talks programme with a remarkable presentation about his father, Sqd Ldr Dick Churchill. Roger painted a picture of the finest in humanity revealed against a world shaped by the very worst. I think Dick V-L’s message after the talk spoke for us all: “Thanks Roger for presenting this amazing story of an amazing generation of heroes. It is humbling to see what they sacrificed for our freedom.

Our next talk is on Thursday 4 th December when Dan Clemens of Claydon Clocks will be revealing some of his secrets as a master of his craft. Dan starts at 11:00 – don’t be late!

With Christmas lights now on and the Town Christmas Fair behind us, we’re looking forward to mince pies and a warming drink on Tuesday 23 rd December followed by a bit of down-time until Tuesday 6 th January when we’ll be back for 2026.
